Shared Education lesson with Liam Kelly

14th May 2021

The P5-P7 children along with the P6 and P7 children from Coagh PS had fantastic afternoon for their joint online Shared Education session with Liam Kelly.

Liam who teaches international children in Abu Dhabi is also the author of ‘Worried William’ a series of books to help people realise that children suffer more than we realise in an ever-changing society. This is particularly evident in the current COVID pandemic especially when they have been off school and missing their daily interaction with their friends at school.

Liam inspired by his own childhood and the children he teaches decided create the series of books to help people realise that children suffer with their own worries, stresses and anxiety.

Liam talked to the children about his own interests, experiences and fears as a child and how he has overcome them through opening up and discussing them with people they can trust.
He highlighted the fact it is ok to be emotional and discuss things shows strength in that you want to overcome these fears and worries. He also encouraged the children to help their friends who aren’t feeling ok and just because they always be smiling we aren’t always sure how they are feeling inside. It is important for every single child feels equal and we are all inclusive.

Two strong messages for all the children were to look after each other and to dream BIG.

We look forward to our second session next week, when Liam will be discussing more about some of the books he has published, ‘Worried William’, poem books, comic and drawing books. Liam has a professional contract of 422 books and will be published over the next seven to ten years.
