“Keep Ballinderry Clean - Take your litter home” Winning Poster on display

29th Apr 2020

Back in November the Mid Ulster Council invited the local schools in Ballinderry Parish to take part in a poster competition focusing on the issue of litter in the local community. Yesterday the winning poster design by our P7 pupil Orla Muldoon was put up on display outside Ballylifford PS and throughout the local Ballinderry area.

Well done Orla it looks fantastic and we proud to see it on display. Hopefully everyone can adhere to the very clear message about caring for the local community.

Within the Ballinderry area, a number of proactive groups have been working together to keep Ballinderry clean, carrying out litter picks in the area. A number of successful clean-ups were held in June and October with staff, pupils, parents/guardians and extended family all involved. The groups are very keen to emphasise the importance of keeping the community clean and tidy whilst raising awareness of the problems litter can cause and reinforcing the importance of taking your litter home and not discarding it along our local roads etc.

Both primary schools in Ballinderry took part in a poster competition with the theme of “Keep Ballinderry Clean – Take your litter home”. The poster competition was kept within KS2 and their posters were presented at a school assembly to raise litter awareness within the whole school group.

Cllr Christine McFlynn and representatives from the Ballinderry Credit Union were part of the judging panel and Mid Ulster Council and Ballinderry Bridge Credit Union provided goody bags to all winners.
