FLIPGRID

27th Apr 2020

Flipgrid

We have been keeping all parents updated regularly with Home Learning resources, news and information during the school closure. We have also seen some wonderful work taking place at home with parents posting photos on our school Twitter account.

Ballylifford PS have decided to introduce a social learning platform called Flipgrid to our KS2 pupils. Mr McElroy would like to see how all the P5-P7 pupils are getting on during the school closure.

Flipgrid is an educational connection app used worldwide that allows teachers and pupils to discuss a topic virtually through short videos. It is a safe encouraging environment for all pupils and is moderated by staff at all times.

The KS2 class will be the first pupils from Ballylifford to try Flipgrid to see how it goes and they will start with an easy introductory topic of KS2 Home Learning. The pupils will record a short video to include the following:

👋 Say Hello to everyone

🤩 Share one thing they have enjoyed doing while being off school & something they have really missed about Ballylifford PS.

Should Flipgrid prove successful educational tool for our school, it will be an opportunity to further extend pupils’ learning while developing thinking skills, speaking and listening skills through many future topics.

We fully understand if any pupil doesn’t feel confident or comfortable recording a video. We are hoping it will be an opportunity for pupils to interact with their friends & find out they have been getting up to during the school closure. It is also an opportunity for parent involvement in their child’s learning.

We have attached a PDF Flip grid guide and included steps below to help get started.

Thank you

Mr McElroy
Principal
