Congratulations on your Retirement Ms Hurl!
Today our whole community gathered together to celebrate in a special way Ms Hurl's retirement. Fr Donnelly celebrated a beautiful mass during which the children participated in the prayers, readings and procession of symbols to represent Ms Hurl's dedicated service to Ballylifford PS over the last 23 years. We sang Ms Hurl's favourite 'A Place in the Choir' as our entrance hymn and 'May the road rise to meet you' to end our mass. This was followed by refreshments in school and a presentation of gifts to Ms Hurl from all the pupils, staff, parents/carers and Board of Governors. Ellie P.7 read Ms Hurl a wonderful poem written in school and we ended with the song 'Killeagh' using lyrics associated with Ms Hurl - a special day for a very SPECIAL teacher, colleague and friend!
We thank Ms. Hurl for the leadership she provided in learning, especially in Numeracy and Art. Her commitment to developing engaging and creative approaches has enriched the learning experience for every child. Her artistic flair and creativity have left a lasting mark on our school—from inspiring classroom projects to helping our P.7 pupils paint the windows every Halloween and Christmas, bringing joy and colour to our celebrations.
We are grateful for her role in leading our School Council and promoting pupil voice, ensuring that every child felt heard and valued.
Ms. Hurl has always been a wonderful team member—caring, supportive, and collaborative—qualities that have strengthened our school community.
As always the children were a credit to our school and Ms Hurl was so proud of each and everyone of them. A sincere thanks to all the staff for making this a memorable day. We will miss you dearly Ms Hurl - we hope you enjoyed your celebrations with the whole Ballylifford School community.
