Carol Service 2025

18th Dec 2025

On Wednesday night we celebrated our Annual Carol Service—one of the most cherished events in our school calendar.

Over the past few weeks, the children have worked incredibly hard—practising carols, readings, and prayers with enthusiasm and commitment.  We had to change the date of our Carol Service this year, and in hindsight, we were grateful it wasn’t last week when so many of our children were unwell. Thankfully, most children were able to participate on Wednesday night and we were immensely proud of each and every one of them.

A special mention to our P.7 pupils who led the service—it was their final Carol Service in Ballylifford, and they did a wonderful job.

Thank you to all parents, carers and family members who joined us on the night. We know how busy this time of year can be, and your presence and encouragement meant the world to our children.

A special word of thanks to our staff - their hard work and dedication in preparing for the Carol Service was evident in every detail. ETI visited our school last week and described our children as “delightful and respectful” and our staff as “extremely caring, supportive, and skilful.” We look forward to sharing the full report in Term 2, but as principal, I can say with pride that it is an honour to work in such a special place.

A sincere thank you to Anne Marie, Orla, and Brigid Ann, who provided delicious refreshments back in school, and to all the ladies in the kitchen who gave up their time to assist.

Thank you also to John, our caretaker, for ensuring our school always looks, in ETI’s words, “spotless.” Your efforts never go unnoticed.

A special word of thanks to Fr Donnelly and John Wilson for the use of the chapel for practices, for preparing the crib, and for ensuring everything was ready for the night. Thanks also to Caroline for the beautiful centrepieces in the school hall—all these thoughtful touches created a beautiful festive atmosphere.
