Being Well Doing Well - School Council Assembly

29th Apr 2026
Our school council led assembly this morning to inform the children about the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, also known as the UNCRC. The boys and girls told us about the 42 articles that relate to the rights of the child. This term we are focusing on article 12 ~ The Right to be Heard. In assembly we discussed how it is important to know our rights but that we must also remember that with rights comes responsibility. We discussed the importance of having our opinions listened to and our voices heard. The school council reminded the children that in Ballylifford we are already practising the right to be heard with our school council meetings, pupil voice and class discussions. Well done to our School Council for leading us in a very informative assembly and informing us about our rights.
